cojg-grantDid you know that there is grant money available for the training of employees working for small businesses?

My Business Coach, Jim FitzGerald, alerted me to the fact that I might be able to find a grant to pay for his fee. I had two choices, I could figure out how, where and when to apply by myself or I could go to a service provider who will prepare the application on my behalf for a fee or a percentage if the application was successful.

I chose the latter and provided the service provider with the required information and Jim provided a training plan. It has been submitted and I now am waiting to find out if I was successful.

The timing of the grant application is very important. It’s a federal/provincial grant program called Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG). The government’s fiscal year starts April 1, so you want to get your application in by March 15 at the latest, because the funds will run out quite quickly and you will have to wait until next year.

The minimum requirements are that you are incorporated, are registered for WSIB, that you have at least $2M in liability insurance, that you include a training plan and that you also include a quote from the person/company who will be providing the training.

The maximum grant amount is $10K per employee.

Let me know if you are interested in learning more about it and I can share more details with you.
