gravi%20We all need to self-assess our businesses regularly to keep making progress. I came across an article on line while googling this topic. I borrowed the six questions that were posed, and tried to apply them to us and our businesses.

What areas did you make significant progress in?

We sometimes get so caught up in work and being busy and making money, that we forget to look at the progress we have made. It’s essential to tally up, to be proud of our accomplishments and to brag a little. It’s essential for you and for your team. So, go ahead make a list, post it on the wall and pet yourself on the back.

What areas did you stagnate in?

Do you remember your New Year’s resolutions from last year? There must have been some items that you didn’t accomplish. Why was that? Lack of time, lack of money or incentive or maybe they were just not as important as you thought at the beginning of the year. So, spend some time analyzing and deciding if you need a new approach or decide to just chuck them!

What new habits will you integrate?

I am sure that each of you have had one of those “light bulb” moments in the past 12 months. A moment where you thought: “Why didn’t I think of that?” Or maybe you were shown a new way to do an old thing and save time or money. Did you make changes as a result or did you tell yourself: “I have always done it this way, why would I change?”

What activities can I remove from my life?

It amazes me regularly how I manage to “clutter up” my life, my time and my work and living space. What activities did you add this year, that waste your time, that are non-essential? Did you switch from your summer to your winter wardrobe yet? And hopefully you have thrown out those items you haven’t worn for a year. Do the same thing with your worn out activities. As a start, spend less time playing computer games and reading garbage on Social Media.

What is your main mission for the year to come?

Have you made your 2017 list of things to accomplish yet? Your goals, your dreams, the essential things you need to achieve? Wouldn’t it be handy to have a GPS for your mission in life, your mission in your business? “In 3 kilometers turn right and immediately right again.” I know it doesn’t work that way. It’s all up to you to set goals, plan and execute. So, what are you waiting for?

 And what about you?

Are you taking care of yourself? Are you taking care of your health and physical and spiritual well-being? When was the last time you did something nice for yourself, reward yourself for all the hard work, stress and BS you have dealt with all year? If you don’t function well, your business won’t either. If you get sick, you, your loved ones and your business will suffer.

So, let’s all get up, set some new goals, make a plan, make some changes, get rid of bad habits and face 2017 with confidence and determination to succeed.
