Major Changes Afoot at Black Tulip? Yes, But Also No.
It has been more than 25 years since we started Black Tulip in the basement of our house working for one client. 25 years of bookkeeping, payroll administration and back office services. Oh, the stories we could tell!!!
It is time for us to slow down a bit and enjoy other activities besides working hard and building our business. Marilyn and I have decided to retire and move to Vancouver Island. Yes, we deserve it!
Over those 25 years we have built a thriving business, a great team of employees and we were fortunate to be able to provide our professional services to a broad variety of interesting clients, from individual operators to multi-entity groups of companies.
On August 1, 2020, John Lobo, our current Controller, will be promoted to General Manager and will take over the responsibility of managing the day-to-day operations of Black Tulip, supported by Kara McCourt, Operations Manager and Rehan Damani, Controller.
Very little will change for our clients and the many professionals we have built relationships with. Our dedicated Black Tulip team will continue to provide the same excellent services, while continuing to look for more clients and expanding our services to existing clients.
As tough as the Covid-19 epidemic was for small businesses, we are proud to be able to report to you that we survived in good shape. Most of all we learned how flexible we were as an organization and how dedicated our team was. We also learned that working remotely is not that hard. So, even though Marilyn and I will be on the other side of the country, we will continue to be involved in an advisory capacity and we will be in regular touch with the team.
It has been an honour and a pleasure to have worked for, and with, so many great people. Thank you, and if you are ever looking for a “moving west” consultant, we’re it!
